2013 Summer Bike Trip – Day 3

This morning we are heading towards home from Lexington.  We had fueled up last night and even though the bikes were dirty from yesterday’s wet roads, we decided not to wash them before heading north.  We visited the Kentucky Horse Park, but didn’t have the time to really look at much other than the visitor center and gift shop.

We decided to take 68 north towards Maysville where we crossed the state line on the way down.  We put on our rain gear before we hit the rain.

We headed over the bridge and took 52 east towards US-23.

We stopped for lunch a couple miles after getting on 52 at a place called Lucky Lady.  The food was very good and was absolutely filled with all the locals.  We were all stuffed by the time we left.  We took US-23 north out of Portsmouth and we only got a couple of miles out of Portsmouth and got caught in a torrential downpour.  We all got pretty wet before we could even get our rain gear on. We then took 159 and thought we might get wet again, but we were able to get in front of it before heading north and beat the rain before it crossed 159.  We then took 22 east into Lancaster, from there it was a short ride up to Granville on 37.

It was an enjoyable ride and weekend, and we had a good time, each day was at least 200 miles of slow paced enjoyable rides through the rolling hills of Kentucky and southern Ohio.
