Ohio State Indoor Championship at the University of Akron

Jonny was invited to the Ohio State Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Akron’s Stile Athletics Field House. It was a condensed day as there were limited competitors in the Division I finals.

Jonny ran in the 4×800 relay and the 4×400 relay.

The 4×800 relay was ran without two of the members of the relay team that qualified them for the state tournament. The reasoning being that they were running individual events themselves and those events were too close to the time of the 4×800 to allow for a full recovery. One individual ran the 1600 Meter run and scored a personal best time for himself. The other ran the 800 meter run and won the event by several seconds and almost had a new Ohio State Indoor record.

Jonny ran his 800 meter leg in 2:10, which was several seconds off his personal best. One of the other members of the relay team was sick according to Jonny and was well off his personal best time as well. The team did not make it to top 8 which receive medals.

Jonny ran in the 4×400 meter relay and Granville was seeded as the 4th team in the state. They were in the third and final heat of the 4×400 relay which consisted of the fasted seeded group. The first two heats saw several teams beat Granville’s seed time by over 4 seconds. Everyone was going to have to run their personal best for them to have a chance. Jonny ran his let in 54.2 which is his personal best by about a quarter of second. The team beat their previous time but by only 9/100’s of a second. They were 9th place and just missed the podium and a medal.

Jonny has a week of relaxed running and then practice starts for outdoor track.

Arnold Classic High School Indoor Meet

Today Jonny ran in the Arnold Classic High School Indoor Meet held in the French Field House at the Ohio State University. This is the last week to qualify for an invite to the Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championship Finals.

Jonny ran in the 4×800 and 4×400 relays today. The team had already qualified for the 4×400 with last week’s run in Akron. They were hoping to be able to qualify for the 4×800 finals with today’s run.

The team ran the 4×800 relay in 8:16.90 and it looks like that might be good enough to qualify for the State Finals next week. Jonny ran another personal best of 2:06 for his leg. He was really excited to qualify for another event next week at the University of Akron where the State Championship Finals are held. Currently that time looks to be the 4th fastest time that event was run this year.

The team ran the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:40.80. A little slower than last weeks 3:29.41. Last weeks time should qualify them for the State Championship though. Jonny’s split this week was 56 seconds, his personal best last week of 54 seconds stands. Jonny said one of their A runners from last week did not run this week, but the team still ended up in 2nd overall this week.

The results for the entire can be found on the Finish Timing Website.
