Jarome Fields Open Indoor Track Meet

Jonny ran the 1600 Meter Run and 4×400 Relay at the Jarome Fields Indoor Track Meet held at the Akron University’s Louis & Freda Stile Athletics Fieldhouse today.

First up was the 1600 Meter Run.  He started off staying with the main pack and let the leaders take a big lead well past 800 meters in the race.  He picked up the pace around the 800 meter mark and ended up in 3rd place with a time of 4:31.72 out of 71 runners.  He almost caught 2nd place and if there was another 20 meters in the race he would have easily taken 2nd place.   Below is the video I took of the race.

The last race of the day was the Boys 4×400.  The Granville team was in the 2nd heat.  They finished with a time of 3:41.98 which was good enough for 4th place out of 12 teams.  They also won their heat by a large margin.  Jonny was running the 2nd leg of the race and was in 2nd place when he received the baton.  He fought off another runner for about 150 meters, when the other runner came up from behind stepped on Jonny’s right foot while trying to pass him on the inside and tripped him.  Jonny responded like he always does in that situation, he got mad and crushed the competition!  Here is what he had to run in the rest of the race.

Stephanie moves to Cincinnati!

Stephanie is moving out from the apartment she shared with Ashley and Shane is moving down to Cincinnati to live with Marcus.  She will be looking for a job down there and is planning on going back to school for either a business degree or a hospitality degree.  She really likes the restaurant business and would love to manage a high caliber restaurant like The Pearl.  She decided last year that she didn’t like Ohio State and the large classroom sizes, we are not sure if she will take some classes at the local community college down there and transfer to the University of Cincinnati or just transfer there right away.  Either way we wish he lots of luck and we will miss seeing her as often as we have.

Buckeye High School Qualifier #1

Jonny’s first meet of the indoor track season was run today at the French Field House in Columbus, Ohio.  He was only scheduled in one race today, the 4×800 relay.  His team raced to a 3rd place finish out of twenty teams with a time of 8:42.54.  Jonny ran the 3rd leg and his split was 2:05.  He got off to a leisurely start, but picked up his pace after the first 400 meters and finished strong.  After the race he said he felt like he could have given a lot more.  Hopefully he got the rust knocked off and will be able to really compete next week and get qualified for the state meet.

Official results can be found here at Finish Timing.  Or you can find the results on the Granville Track and Field Reporting Tool.
