Spring Break 2013 – Day 4

This morning we woke it and it was cold outside. The temp was 35 with winds around 17mph. It is sunny out though and should warm up to around 54 today. The kids stayed up until well after midnight watching our Redbox rental The Watch. So, they ended up sleeping in late this morning, while Nikki and I were both up shortly after 7:00 am.

Nikki and I ran to the store before the kids got out of bed to pick up a few supplies.  When we got back, Nikki made a wonderful breakfast of bacon and eggs for everyone.  We then went down to the beach and Nikki and I walked while the kids did their 45 minute run.  We all got distracted by all the things washed up on shore including sea urchins, starfish, crabs and birds.

After the walk/run on the beach all three kids decided to head over to the tower 4 pool and catch some sun.  We found the Tower 4 pool to be more protected from the western winds that had been hitting us the last couple of days.  So far all three kids are getting along well and enjoying doing some things on their own as a group.

We didn’t realize that our camera bag didn’t have any extra batteries or a battery charger, so today we ended up going to a couple of stores before we ended up at RadioShack where we finally found a battery charger for our camera.  Now, we can continue to take pictures of the kids and scenery here in South Carolina to document our vacation.

Nikki and I got back to the condo to find Jonny’s phone disassembled and on some napkins.  As it turned out, he somehow dunked his phone in water, we are thinking a hot tub, but the details have yet to be shared with us.  This forced Nikki and I back to Kroger, where we just came from to return our Redbox selection and rent another.  Nikki bought some rice and sandwich bags to put the phone without it’s back and the battery unattached in a sandwich bag full of moisture sucking uncooked rice.  In about 24 hours we should know if that worked to save his phone or not.

We were going to take a walk on the beach, but decided last minute that we were going back to Barefoot Landing to look at the tigers and the kids and Nikki needed more fudge as they devoured the last one and a half pounds of fudge in 24 hours.  Evidently it’s needed to keep their activity levels up.  Anyway, we went and watched the tigers for a while and found out they had a gibbon there and tiger cubs as well.  We got 3 more pounds of fudge and the kids did a little more shopping.

We got back around dusk and while Nikki is warming up some leftover chicken for dinner the kids ran downstairs to play some ping pong or hit the hot tub again before dinner.  We rented GI Joe from Redbox which was the planned entertainment for the evening, but everyone kept themselves busy enough to not need the movie for tonight.  Maybe we will keep it and watch it tomorrow instead.

  1. So glad you guys are having fun. I was afraid it was going to be a rainy week which is not good for a Spring Vacation. Jon looks like he grew another inch or two. Do you think you would ever want to go back to Myrtle Beach or isn’t there much to see and do? We missed about 12 to 18 inches of snow by 80 miles. It went south you might have a messs to come to. Dad and I are still trying to recover from our trip. We took a red eye home and can’t seem to get any energy back. We head back to Detroit tomorrow again hope he can make it through three hours. J.J. and Josh leave for Florida on Friday they will stay at Jack and Jans for a few days then head back home and stop andd see things along the way. Jodi, Victor and the girls will bee the only ones for Easter dinner. Hope the rest of your week goes well. Sounds like you and Nick like taking walks on the beach. Hope it gets warmer so she can have her coffee on the deck and watch the ocean. That is so relaxing. Give our love to everyone and we will catch up with you later. We don’t lake the computer with us to Detroit. Love Mon and Dad.
